When it comes to the young child, much more is "caught than taught." Educators of young children,
both parents and teachers, have an awesome responsibility. The early years are critical in the
development of the child.
In keeping with this philosophy, Apple Tree Learning Center provides an environment where
children are encouraged to:
- Grow and develop at their own rate
- Develop a positive self-image
- Learn to handle their emotions in an appropriate way
- Act on their environment
- Learn to trust and care for others

Learning Center:
Infant/Toddler
(6 weeks - 3 yrs)
The Infant and Toddler Program at Apple Tree focuses on the needs
of the "whole baby." Using the developmental guidelines set forth by
Zero to Three: National Center for Infants, Toddler and Families,
our program is designed to promote discovery and to give young children
the very best start by following the appropriate practices through
professional excellence.
Preschool
(2 yrs 9 mos - 5 yrs)
The preschool program at Apple Tree promotes innovative learning opportunities and individual
creativity, while maintaining high standards of care and fostering equal opportunity in
education for all children.
Kindergarten
(5 yrs old by Sept. 30, 2001)
The kindergarten program provides a rich scholastic curriculum
designed to meet the Virginia State Standards of Learning as
well as the standards set forth by Apple Tree Learning Center.
Before/After School
(neighborhood public schoolers)
The school age program, "Tree House Kids Club" at Apple Tree
offers opportunities for children to transition from school
into a slower, less structured setting. They enjoy a variety
of fun activities such as field trips, music, crafts, sports,
cooking, drama, hikes, and clubs formed in response to the
children's interests.
Summer Camp
Our focus is on FUN with the opportunity to celebrate individual
differences and promote cultural awareness from around the world.
We start with a dynamic new theme each year. We include all
kinds of creative activities such as field trips, arts and
crafts, music, athletics, and much more.
