Our kindergarten students, appropriately named” Achievers,”
participate in a wide variety of studies that include language
arts, math, science, social studies, music, art, physical education,
devotionals/chapel, and handwriting. We teach language arts
using a sequential phonics program, “A Beka,” and math through
hands-on manipulative instruction and written work.
Kindergarten is a fun year characterized by enormous spiritual,
intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development. Many
Kindergarten students experience for the first time leaving
parents, quietly sitting still for longer periods of time
focusing on a task or solving a problem, and making oh so many
new friends. They are becoming more organized in caring for
their materials. Kindergarten students enjoy bear hunts, produce
their own circus, and count to 100 more ways than you can count.
Following is a list of curriculum particular to the kindergarten
year.
Kindergarten Curriculum Overview
- Reading Readiness: A Beka phonics
- Printing: handwriting practiced daily
- Math: A Beka math and hands-on manipulatives
- Science & Social Studies: unit studies
- Bible: A Beka and scripture memorization
- Weekly specials include Art, Music, and Computer
