In 1989, a group of early childhood professionals recognized a need
for high quality Christian childcare in the community. From this,
Apple Tree Learning Center was created. The center began with thirty
children at Immanuel Baptist Church.
As the need for childcare grew, so did Apple Tree. In 1996 we opened
our doors at Oxford United Methodist Church. In 2001 we grew again,
opening an infant/toddler center at Suffolk Presbyterian Church.
In 2005 the original center at Immanuel Baptist Church was relocated.
Our new sponsoring partner, Parkway Temple, welcomed Apple Tree Learning Center
to join its ministry.
These centers continue this vision today: to provide personalized
developmental child care in a nurturing, Christian environment.
We are a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization, registered with the
Commonwealth of Virginia and the IRS. For the 2006-2007 school year
Apple Tree has grown to serve 365 children and 67 employees.
Our Developmental Preschool Program is built around a Bible-based,
theme-oriented, age-appropriate curriculum. As teachers and staff
members, we are committed to providing a loving Christian Environment.
One in which your child has the opportunity to grow spiritually,
socially, physically, emotionally, and intellectually.
We believe that each child is a unique creation of God and consider
educating children according to their God-given traits and abilities
a "joint venture" between school, family and church. Our classes
at OUMC and PT are available to children at least 2 years, 9 months
and have been toilet trained. Our classes at OUMC and PT are
available to children at least 2 years, 6 months. Our center
at SPC specializes in programs for children ages 6 weeks to 3 years.
